G8 education ministers to meet at President Hotel in Moscow place «President Hotel»

The meeting participants will discuss the development of education in the innovation society of the 21st century, and assess the availability of education at all levels, the progress made on the program of lifelong learning, the development of the UN Education for All program, and expansion of the educational system to integrate immigrants into society.

The meeting will be attended by: Andrey Fursenko, Minister of Education and Science, Russia; Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Canada; Gilles de Robien, Minister for National Education, Higher Education and Research, France; Annette Schavan, Federal Minister of Education and Research, Germany; Giuseppe Fioroni, Minister of Education, Italy; Parliamentary Secretary Haruko Arimura of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan; Bill Rammell, MP and Minister of State for Lifelong Learning, Further and Higher Education, Great Britain; Margaret Spellings, Secretary of Education, the U.S.; Jan Figel, the European Commission member responsible for education, culture and vocational training; Angel Gurria, Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development; and other officials.

Education ministers of Brazil, India, Kazakhstan, China, Mexico, South Africa and representatives of UNESCO and the World Bank are expected to take part in an extended meeting.

An appropriate statement will be issued on the results.
